Theory Test


To book your theory test visit www.dsa.gov.uk
A Theory Test is not required for a CBT course,
however a good working knowledge
of the Highway Code is helpful to new riders.
 



All Riders  need to pass a Theory Test before 
takeing a DSA Practical Test.

Which Motorcycle can I ride?

Pratical Test


Description  Licence Category Minimum Age
Mopeds with an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc and a maximum design speed not exceeding 50km/h P 16

Light motorcycles with a cubic capacity not exceeding 125cc and a power output not exceeding 11kW (14.6bhp)


A1 17

Motorcycles up to 25kW(33bhp) and a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg. Motorcycle combination with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg

A 17
Any size motorcycle with or without a sidecar
A 21*
You will need to pass your theory test before taking a practical test.






* Age 21 if the rider passed the test for large motorcycles as part of the Direct Access scheme, or two years from the date of test pass if the rider passed the test on a standard A motorcycle (power output up to 25 kW (33 bhp) or a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg.)

Sub-Caterory A1 (Motorcycle 75cc - 125cc)

Category A (Bike 121cc -125cc Or Bike with                                    power output of at least 35kW)

the Practical Test is booked  to take place at either
Peterborough or Cambridge Test Centres.

Advanced Riding Skills

Advanced Riding courses aim to build on the skills you have already learnt and provide additional training to improve your riding. These courses are designed to meet your goals, whether to achieve an advanced certificate in riding or to simply become a more proficient rider. These courses aim to encourage continuous assessment of your own riding to improve, observation, positioning, cornering and above all safer riding through better understanding of motorcycling. click here for further details.

CBT Compulsory Basic Training

This course if for anyone wishing to ride a moped or 125cc motorcycle on L Plates. The course is designed for a complete novice, or anyone wishing to legally ride on the public highway that does not hold a full motorcycle licence. DAS Direct Access Training
Obtaining a Full Motorcycle Licence

These courses are for anyone wishing to obtain a full motorcycle licence in order to ride without L plates and/or to carry a pillion passenger. This can be on a 125cc or 500cc motorcycle.  This will generally for anyone over 21 (specific rules apply to under 21).                               Click here for further details
